One year later
An update on the state of RSB.
It’s been a year since I started this blog. I was inconsistent and then dropped it. This year, I’m revisiting the blog to convey the ideas I have been having. These ideas are much the same as I had envisioned discussing last year. Between then and now, I have learned enough to feel comfortable acting. Thus I will be restarting.
I don’t have a timeline in mind. You can probably expect to see one post every few weeks or once a month. The upcoming series will revolve around a “solidarity bioeconomy”. Content will involve posts about cooperative enterprise, employee ownership, and abolition. There will also be solarpunk short stories exploring the ideas.
For some context, I have been deeply researching cooperative enterprise, intending to establish it as a viable path for developing community bio lab projects into sustainable sources of jobs and new technologies. I got a new day job as an event coordinator for Ginkgo Bioworks synthetic biology developer community on discord. I also intend to join the multi-stakeholder cooperative ZebrasUnite when they reopen for new members. This positioning, combined with my study of works from abolitionists like Mariame Kaba, Ruth Wilson Gilmore, and adrienne maree brown, makes me uniquely situated to discuss the intersection of these spaces.
